American National is seeking a full-time, Financial Analyst (Capital Planning). In this position you will manage and support organizational capital and rating agency activities, including but not limited to meeting coordination, completion of surveys, model development, capital planning, and evaluation of strategic investments.
Placement Locations: League City, Texas with potential to transition to Houston, Texas campus in the future
How you will make an impact:
Organize the development of forecasts and proforma capital models; conduct market research and prepare board of directors and senior management presentations
Prepare the annual capital plan and regular capital assessments aligned to business plans and leadership objectives
Update and maintain capital models for S&P, Fitch, A.M. Best and NAIC RBC
Arrange rating agency meetings including preparation of materials
Complete rating agency surveys in coordination with accounting, actuarial, and investments teams, and other business leaders as needed
Qualifications:
Four-year degree (Finance, Risk Management, Mathematics, Actuarial, and Economics majors strongly preferred)
Capital and financial modeling skills
Insurance industry or relevant work experience in capital modeling, enterprise risk management considered
Microsoft PowerPoint skills, demonstrated ability to develop quality presentations and reports
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Beneficial skills to have:
Introduction to life insurance regulatory capital modeling and other capital regimes
Exposure to rating agency interactions with insurance companies
Knowledge and experience on life and annuity regulations, valuation, and accounting
An interest in programmatic approaches and capital modeling tools
Direct understanding of finance functions where responsibilities included budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial modeling, and cash management
Insight of financial statements on a GAAP and Statutory basis
Experience in finance, treasury, risk management, life insurance actuarial or a related field, preferably within the insurance industry with demonstrated knowledge in rating agency capital models and risk-based capital (RBC) models
