Business Unit Overview:

Join Actuarial Operations within Corporate Finance where operational excellence meets financial transformation. The Prophet Staging and Production Team is responsible for modeling operations and production of financial projection results using Prophet Enterprise actuarial models. In addition to production of results, the team maintains, standardizes, and updates model inputs, implements model changes from the development team, and produces documentation for modeling processes at New York Life.

Role Overview:

As an Actuarial Modeling Manager, you will oversee the quarterly actuarial modeling cycle for Life and Annuity products, ensuring accurate and timely financial projections. You will manage a team responsible for model input preparation, model execution, and review of results, while driving process improvements to enhance efficiency and automation. Collaborating with actuarial metric owners, technology, and data strategy teams, you will ensure alignment on methodologies, maintain governance standards, and provide technical guidance on modeling operations.

What You'll Do:
• Lead and oversee the end-to-end quarterly production modeling of Cash Flow Testing, Duration, Embedded Value, and Risk-Based Capital for Life and Annuity products.
• Manage and develop a team of actuarial technicians responsible for preparation of model inputs, model execution, and preliminary review of results.
• Develop and maintain quarterly model inputs related to updating asset and liability inventory, economic assumptions, and financial statement balances.
• Organize, delegate, and monitor actuarial modeling tasks within an Agile framework
• Collaborate with key stakeholders across finance to align on methodologies and production modeling expectations.
• Provide technical guidance on actuarial modeling operations, model troubleshooting, and results interpretation.
• Support strategic initiatives including potential enhancements to assumption management, model input standardization, and cost-saving measures related to modeling efficiency.

What You'll Bring:
• FSA or career-ASA (role does not provide exam support)
• 8+ years of actuarial experience with 3+ years in an actuarial modeling or financial reporting role
• Strong leadership or team management experience, with ability to mentor and develop financial professionals in a remote working environment
• Experience with Life and Annuity products
• Excellent communication skills with ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to organize and delegate complex processes and deliver results under tight deadlines
• Experience with Prophet modeling software preferred
• Experience with Visual Basic and Tableau preferred

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $110,000-$190,000

Overtime eligible: Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes

Sales bonus eligible: No

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
