Role Overview:The GBS Claims Business Analytics Actuarial lead is a key role within finance, providing critical analytical support to the business. This individual will be a trusted advisor to leaders in both claims and finance, will provide timely and meaningful insights into operational performance, and will influence and drive actions that will help minimize risk and optimize outcomes.

What You'll Do:
  • Partner with leaders within the claims organization to understand current processes and procedures.
    • Provide feedback on proposed process changes and develop tools to measure and monitor impacts.
    • Facilitate communication of changes to finance team and other affected business partners.
    • Recommend process controls to most effectively monitor and manage potential operational risks.
  • Determine key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure the claims organization's effectiveness.
    • Ensure leaders within the claims organization have appropriate visibility into performance and outcomes such that they can hold themselves and their teams accountable.
    • Continue to enhance a "dashboard" for the claims organization to be shared with the GBS senior leadership team.
  • Develop and / or maintain tools, such as reports and dashboards, which help
    • Reduce reliance on claim managers manually tracking information so that they can maximize their time spent managing claims and connecting with customers.
    • Provide supervisors with appropriate metrics and tools to eliminate the need for manual consolidation of disparate reports, increasing the time available for supervisors to coach and develop their teams, and ensuring a management process is being applied and performance is being measured consistently across teams.

  • Partner with reserving and FP&A teams to develop operational assumptions for financial projections.
  • Work with controller's area to enhance capacity planning tools.

    • Gain a deep understanding of products and drivers of their financial performance

    • Presenting (both written and verbally) operational results to various audiences with differing levels of technical knowledge, predominantly within finance, claims and senior leadership
    • Helping to explain how process changes (known and proposed) may impact operational and financial outcomes
    • Translating operational metrics into actionable insights.
  • Analytical skills
    • Reviewing and understanding key claim metrics across various parameters to identify drivers and trends
    • Seeking to understand ongoing implications of observed drivers / trends on future operational and financial outcomes
  • Technical
    • Understanding and applying core actuarial methodologies as they relate to claim outcomes (life contingencies, probability, credibility, etc.)
    • Turning large data sets into actionable information and insights (modeling in Excel, SQL, Cognos, Tableau, etc.)


What You'll Bring:
  • Actuarial background
  • Minimum 6 years of experience
  • Experience with disability products strongly preferred


Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $122,500-$210,000

Overtime eligible: Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes

Sales bonus eligible: No

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
