Actuarial Analyst
Job Family: Corporate Reserving
How does this role contribute to our collective success?
This position will provide actuarial support for the Corporate Reserving team, coordinating the quarterly reserving process for AXIS Group and liaising with various Product and Corporate functions. The Corporate Reserving team supports various reserving areas including our Product Line and Regulatory teams and will have exposure to all lines of business written by AXIS. This role will be a primary contributor to efforts focused on improving our existing reserving processes and platforms including tool enhancements, expansion, and redesign.
You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.
What will you do in this role?
Reserving
• Assist in producing the AXIS quarterly reserving estimates.
• Assist with the peer review of the Product Line quarterly reserve analyses and validation of the selected actuarial estimates.
• Support reserve meetings for the quarterly reserving process.
• Support in the development of new diagnostics tools and reports to improve the quarterly process and provide MI to colleagues across AXIS.
Other
• Perform additional project work including deep dives of specific lines of business.
• Assist in the annual Planning exercise, liaising closely with Pricing and Risk Functions.
• Provide support for other Group Functions (Finance, Risk, Investments) as required.

What you need to have:
REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
A person in this position should meet the following requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• At least five years of industry experience with an insurance, reinsurance, or consulting background in reserving, pricing, or modelling roles.
• Actively working to qualify as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, or equivalent.
What we prefer you to have:
OTHER DESIRED SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS:
• Experience with management information systems is a plus (e.g., database and application development).
• Intermediate to advanced Excel, SQL Server, VBA capabilities; additional experience with ResQ, PowerBI, Tableau, and/or Oracle or similar applications is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self starter, proactive and prepared to operate autonomously.
• Ability to develop, recommend and implement new approaches.
• Ability to work occasional extended hours as required.
• Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail as well as communication and interpersonal skills.

In this role, you will typically be required to be in the office 3 days per week.
