Reporting into the Corporate Reserving lead, this position will provide actuarial support for the Corporate Reserving team, coordinating the quarterly reserving process for the AXIS Group and liaising with various Product and Corporate functions. The Corporate Reserving team will support various reserving areas including our Product Line and Regulatory teams and will have exposure to all lines of business written by AXIS. This role will be a primary contributor to efforts focused on improving our existing reserving processes and platforms including tool enhancements, expansion, and redesign.
This role requires to be in the office 3 days week.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reserving
• Assist in producing the AXIS quarterly reserving estimates.
• Assist with the peer review of the Product Line quarterly reserve analyses and validation of the selected actuarial estimates.
• Assist with the peer review and validation of key actuarial assumptions and methods.
• Coordinate reserve meetings for the quarterly reserving process.
• Develop new diagnostics tools and reports to improve the quarterly process and provide MI to colleagues across AXIS.
• Review the existing suite of AXIS reserving tools and identify opportunities for enhancement including possibly shifting from the status quo to future state platforms.
• Partner with BTS to design and implement enhancement plans and act as a first point of contact for review and testing of BTS supported solutions.
Other
• Perform additional project work including deep dives of specific lines of business.
• Assist in the annual Planning exercise, liaising closely with Pricing and Risk Functions.
• Provide support for other Group Functions (Finance, Risk, Investments) as required.
• Manage a small team of actuarial and analytical focused individuals with varying levels of experience and skillsets.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
A person in this position should meet the following requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• At least five years of industry experience with an insurance, reinsurance, or consulting background in reserving, pricing, or modeling roles.
• Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, or equivalent.
OTHER DESIRED SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS:
• Experience with management information systems is a plus (e.g., database and application development).
• Intermediate to advanced Excel, SQL Server, VBA capabilities; additional experience with ResQ, PowerBI, Tableau, and/or Oracle or similar applications is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work occasional extended hours and travel on business as required.
• Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
Salary Range:
For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $150K to $195K. The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including the experience of the successful candidate and their work location.
