Equitable is looking for dynamic and success oriented Chief Actuary to join our Group Retirement team! The Head of Pricing serves as the Chief Actuary for the Group Retirement business, reporting to the Head of Group Retirement, responsible for the product pricing and in-force management.

This role will proactively contribute to the growth of the Group Retirement business by developing innovative strategies to optimize client outcomes and enhance profitability of the business.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with product development and other stakeholders to drive innovation and implementation of new products/features, including institutional lifetime income solutions
  • Provide actuarial analytics of the in-force assets under management in the Group Retirement markets: 403b (education), 457 (government) and 401k (small business)
  • Provide actuarial analysis and pricing for Institutional Lifetime Income markets
  • Develop and set credit rates and guidelines for each market segment
  • Support development of new products and features in accordance with Equitable's economic framework
  • Optimize business profitability through proactive review of financial and behavioral risk exposures and evaluation of in-force experience and providing recommendations
  • Create resilient operational processes for our in-force business and completing special projects
  • Lead experience studies and assumption setting for Group Retirement business
  • Assist in all new business projects, including development of exploratory pricing models
  • Collaborate with business partners in Product, Finance, and Distribution to drive business strategy
  • Maintain strong relationships with key business partners throughout the organization and leverage those relationships to stay on top of emerging internal and external trends
  • Provide Pricing subject matter expertise to team members and internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects and cross-functional initiatives
  • Provide training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and give honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent
  • Direct and evaluate individual/team performance and take appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards for the Pricing Strategy team
  • Establish and implement priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure results


The total targeted compensation range for this position is $321,000 - $434,000. Total compensation varies based on skills, experience, geographical location and other factors.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of relevant working experience in the financial/insurance industry
  • FSA designation
  • Deep understanding of actuarial principles, profitability drivers, key financial metrics and suite of retirement products
  • Deep understanding of Group Retirement business
    Extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements and frameworks

  • Proven interpersonal/relationship management skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders, including finance, risk, product, distribution, legal and compliance
  • Strong executive communication skills and presence with ability to extract key insights and articulate findings and recommendations to executive management
  • Critical problem solver with ability to gather, analyze and synthesize a significant amount of information, and turn it into a compelling vision
  • Ability to effectively lead and direct team to conduct robust analysis and provide data-driven recommendations
  • Demonstrated leadership acumen and ability to effectively develop team and deliver on business outcomes


Skills

Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.

Financial Risk Management: Knowledge of tools, techniques, and strategies applied in financial risk management; ability to quantify, qualify, and manage financial risk.

Insurance Products: Knowledge of insurance products, product groups and services; ability to apply the knowledge of products and services appropriately to diverse situations, including but not limited to marketing development and product consulting.

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
