Sompo has a unique opportunity for an AVP, Pricing Actuary in our Actuarial Strategies Team.

As an AVP, Pricing Actuary, you’ll support our actuarial initiatives across North America by enhancing operational efficiency, providing executive-level actuarial insights, and developing monitoring frameworks and portfolio metrics. You’ll combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution, focusing on developing actuarial frameworks, enhancing workflows, and translating insights for senior leadership.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Identify and address inefficiencies in actuarial workflows to boost productivity

  • Develop tools and solutions that minimize manual effort

  • Ensure consistency and repeatability in actuarial analyses

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize data usage, standardize metrics, and track actuarial initiatives

  • Support senior leadership by transforming actuarial insights into actionable business strategies

  • Gather, analyze, and synthesize actuarial data to anticipate and address management inquiries

  • Create dashboards, reports, and presentations that underscore key trends and risks for informed decision-making

  • Establish reporting systems that offer clear insight into portfolio trends and risk factors

  • Monitor market dynamics, business performance, and actuarial KPIs to assess portfolio health

  • Coordinate with actuarial teams to align their work with broader business objectives

What you’ll bring:

  • 7 - 12 years of actuarial experience involving portfolio support, operations, and planning

  • Experience in developing actuarial tools, workflow improvements, and automation solutions

  • Ability to curate actuarial insights for management, distill complex analyses into clear, concise insights, and balance strategic planning with hands-on problem-solving

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, with a preference for candidates holding an FCAS or ACAS designation

  • Strong focus on enhancing efficiency through automation and minimizing operational friction

Salary Range: $130,000– $215,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.

The total compensation opportunity for all regular, full-time employees is a combination of base salary and incentives that gets adjusted upfront based on overall Company performance with final awards based on individual performance.
