The American National Finance Department is seeking a full-time, Assistant Vice President of capital and rating agency activities. You will actively partner with rating agencies and drive capital modeling initiatives that will include challenging and developing economic models to guarantee our organization's financial strength. You will also conduct ongoing stress tests, optimization/allocation analysis, and lead regulatory reporting. To thrive in the position, you should have experience with rating agencies and their capital models, have an insurance industry background with familiarity of both statutory and GAAP principals, enjoy analysis, and comfortable formally presenting financial information to C-Suite level teams.
How you will make an impact:
- Responsible for American National capital and rating agency activities, including rating agency strategy and relationship management, rating agency capital model development, capital planning, evaluation of strategic investments and ad hoc decision support
- Implements and maintains capital models for NAIC RBC as well as S&P, A.M. Best and Fitch
- Forecasts performance capital models; preparing board of directors and senior management presentations
- Leads the preparation of the annual capital plan and regular capital assessments aligned to business plans and strategic objectives
- Oversees and develops a team to execute organizational goals
Qualifications:
- Four-year degree (Finance, Actuarial, Economic, Risk Management, and Math related majors preferred) Will also consider relevant industry work experience, leadership skills, and industry designations accordingly
- Professional/Tenured industry relevant work experience, which includes a combination of the following: Formal leadership skills, insurance background, capital modeling, rating agency collaboration, involvement in mergers and acquisitions, investment portfolio evaluation/management, and risk adverse analysis
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to include Excel and PowerPoint
Great to have, not required:
- Familiarity with GAAP and Statutory accounting and reserving for life insurance companies
- Knowledge and experience on life and annuity regulations, valuation, and accounting
- Understanding of insurance company investment strategies and capital impacts
- Professional designation of CPA or CFA
- Experience in a finance function where responsibilities included budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial modeling, and cash management.
- Experience in finance, treasury, risk management, life insurance actuarial or a related field, preferably within the insurance industry with demonstrated knowledge in rating agency capital models and risk-based capital (RBC) models
Position may be filled at either the League City, Houston, or Galveston, TX. campus
