Summary of the role:
  • Leads the oversight and governance of the Fixed Indexed Annuity (FIA) Cash Flow Testing model development. Provides guidance and monitors the FIA model development and production process to ensure AIG's quality assurance and Financial Actuarial Judgment (FAJ) guidelines are followed in a timely and complete manner. Ensures contractual features, economic and policyholder behavioral assumptions as well as modeling methodologies are thoroughly defined, documented, tested and implemented into the CFT models, meeting all FAJ requirements.
  • Leads the preparation and analysis of the FIA CFT results; Provide reports and analysis of the sensitivity and attribution of (the components of) result movements due to changes of markets and policyholder behavior assumption and work with others on the Valuation, Investment and Hedging teams to understand the impacts of reserve movement and management actions. Ensures all actuarial controls and standards are followed; actuarial memorandums (AOM) are complete and accurate related to the FIA models. Provide supports to various stakeholders on actual vs expected analysis, engage in the development of the predictor models and supports all management initiatives related to FIA, e.g. reinsurance and hedging.
  • Participates in discussions/analysis and provides guidance/advice regarding technical actuarial issues such as modeling methodology, reserving principles and changes to valuation standards, laws and regulations applicable to fixed indexed annuities. The particular focus will be on NAIC's Economic Scenario Generator and VM-22 initiatives.
  • Identifies, builds or executes data and/or analytical solutions to standardize and automate processes as leader/participant on a cross functional team for the overall CFT reporting efforts
  • Serves as a key resource for completion of other CFT related projects


Experience requirements:
  • Prior experience with Financial Reporting, Annuity Products, ALM/Hedging, Regulatory guidelines and valuation principles, Economic Scenario Generation Process, Financial Projections etc.
  • Prior management experience (people or project) will be a plus, not required.
  • Actuarial Modeling experiences, in particular experience with Axis is a plus.
  • Fellow of Society of Actuaries
  • Skills and Attributes:
  • Excellent computer skills, especially good understanding of database, presentation and graphing software
  • Knowledge of fixed index annuity products and actuarial modeling software preferred
  • Knowledge of Statutory valuation standards required
  • Knowledge/experience with valuation of derivatives and general Financial Economics is a plus
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey complex mathematical and analytical concepts to various audiences
  • Demonstrates high quality leadership, judgment, organization and prioritization skills
  • Takes initiative and works independently
  • Works under pressure and within time constraints to effectively accomplish individual and team objectives
  • Finds creative solutions to standardize and automate processes
  • Embraces change and quickly adapts to new methods and accountabilities
