The Associate Director Actuarial Services, Pricing leads and manages teams with responsibility for coaching actuaries and developing student actuaries. This position will support the Individual medical product line. They will work with the health plans to develop product strategy and pricing for the ACA on-exchange individual products. The Associate Director Actuarial Services, Pricing is a subject matter expert and trusted advisor for health plan leadership in ensuring that program rates are competitive, adequate and actuarially sound. This individual will lead and/or coordinate analytical efforts to support the rate setting process including competitive analysis, network analysis, risk adjustment, trend, actuarial benefit value analysis, etc. This individual will determine the implications of these items on strategy, premiums, and various product proposals. Additional Projects may include:

  • Developing actuarial models
  • Preparing experience analyses
  • Preparing regulatory filings
  • Assisting in the development of financial forecasts and projections

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Economics or related field
  • ASA or FSA designation
  • 5+ years of actuarial experience
  • Actuarial experience in health care, specifically with experience in developing program rates and pricing methodologies
  • Advanced or higher level of proficiency with MS Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing or supervising others
  • Proficiency with SAS and/or SQL
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California/Colorado/Connecticut/Nevada/New Jersey/New York/Rhode Island/Washington residents is $101,200 to $184,000 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
