Job Description

The individual in this role will work as a leader or more senior member of several project teams supporting clients on a wide variety of engagements covering topics such as financial modeling, financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory issues, litigation, pricing, and product development. Our clients demand leading edge products and expertise, and as a manager with our firm, you can expect to gain tremendous exposure to all facets of life insurance operations. The Role
  • Lead small projects and play a senior role in larger projects to meet client engagement objectives
  • Manage and direct more junior colleagues that perform analysis and develop tools, ensuring a high-quality work product has been prepared and will be delivered to the project manager or client
  • Share knowledge and experience with other colleagues
  • Mentor junior colleagues
  • Work collaboratively with others on a project team
  • Review peer work product as a quality control measure
  • Play a key role in client correspondence in both written and verbal format
  • Play a lead role in preparing for meetings and interactions with clients, manage expections of the project manager and raise appropriate issues to Client Relationship Managers
  • Contribute to development of intellectual capital that leads to our service offerings such as Predictive Analytics, Financial Modeling, Experience Analysis, Regulation Changes among others
  • Support revenue generation for the firm by meeting billable hour expectations and assisting in the sales process
  • Make continuous progress on the SOA exam curriculum toward an FSA designation, utilizing a competitive student program or complete CE requirements to maintain SOA credentials depending on exam status


Qualifications

The Requirements
  • At least 7 years of experience in an actuarial role at a life insurance company, consulting firm, or financial services organization
  • Strong technical skills, preferably in at least one of: Microsoft Excel with VBA, SQL, or R
  • Expertise with AXIS software and experience leading AXIS modeling teams
  • Expertise in at least one specific life insurance and/or annuity product line
  • Expertise in at least one of the following functional areas as applied to the life insurance industry: predictive analytics / data science, experience studies, financial reporting, financial modeling, mergers & acquisitions, and product development / pricing.
  • Motivated, independent learner willing to share their knowledge with others
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a local team and within teams across multiple offices
  • Ability to direct work involving technical issues and requiring problem solving skills
  • Ability to effectively assist junior colleagues
  • Ability to explain the big picture as to why an assignment needs to be performed, how it fits in to the final objective and ensure that tasks performed are directly linked to client objectives
  • Ability to balance supporting and leading multiple projects with multiple clients, including timely communication of project and deliverable status
  • Flexibility to put in extra effort to meet client deadlines when necessary
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to explain work product, findings, and recommendations to junior colleagues, peers, and clients
  • FSA preferred

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that base salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).

Compensation

The hourly rate or base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $140,000-$190,000 USD per year.

This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
