Your future team

As an Associate Actuary - Part Time, you will be involved in the review of our Inforce Life Insurance block to improve our understanding of the future profitability of this block and review of potential profitability improvement strategies and reinsurance transactions and their impact. You will report to the Vice President & Actuary, Life Inforce Management and will work closely with the Life CFO, Life Pricing, Valuation and Ceded Reinsurance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with consultants and internal stakeholders to perform a detailed profitability analysis and attribution for our inforce life insurance block
  • Estimate earnings and balance sheet impacts of any reinsurance transactions and profitability improvement or risk reduction strategies
  • Model inforce term products for post-level term optimization strategies
  • Develop assumptions in support of above efforts
  • Conduct annual rate certification filings for Accident and Health portfolio
  • Provide expert actuarial support for inforce life products as needed to various stakeholders by accessing all necessary data and information and tying them together
  • Identify correct policy forms, pricing memoranda, and product specifications of inforce life products. Understand and communicate them to provide support of above work products.
  • Develop periodic presentations of analysis and recommendations for senior management

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science or Related Field
  • Ideal candidate will be an Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and have 8+ years experience in the industry
  • Prior experience in life pricing or life GAAP valuation preferred.
  • Prior experience with actuarial valuation and modeling software, preferably CASE, ARCVAL, or Prophet.
  • Programming skill in SAS, SQL, or Visual Basic is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, including a proficiency in communicating with stakeholders at cross-disciplinary levels in the organization
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a dynamic work environment without compromising attention to detail
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and quality of service.

For positions based in Jersey City, NJ, the base salary range is $50,000-$105,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
