About the role

Corebridge Financial (formerly AIG Life & Retirement) Individual Retirement is seeking an Associate Actuary within the R&D Pricing team. This position will report to the Head of R&D Pricing. The position will be based in Houston, TX, or Woodland Hills, CA, though qualified remote candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Candidates meeting some but not all of the requirements may be hired at a level commensurate with their skills.

This individual contributor role is focused on the pricing of innovative annuity products, with the greatest focus on indexed annuities, to support the continued growth of Corebridge’s annuity lines of business. 

The main responsibilities include:

  • Price fixed, fixed indexed, and variable annuity products during development, balancing profitability, marketability, and risk

  • Support R&D pricing through specification development, collaboration with model developers, and testing

  • Support the development of assumptions for newly developed products

  • Develop an understanding of regulations impacting annuity products and pricing

  • Represent pricing R&D with internal business partners as appropriate

  • Train rotating actuarial students on team processes and tools

  • Leverage pricing and product knowledge to support other areas as needed. 

Candidate Profile Required

  • ASA or FSA designation in the Society of Actuaries

  • A proven track record of performance in prior roles within the insurance industry

  • Proven abilities in problem-solving and critical thinking, including the ability to examine the appropriateness of actuarial results

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Experience with actuarial models

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Strong customer service orientation for internal stakeholders

  • Demonstrated technology skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Excel and, ideally, computer programming (VBA, C++).

Preferred

Candidates meeting some or all of the following criteria may be preferred over those who do not.

  • Working knowledge of the annuity industry and relevant product lines

  • Pricing experience

  • Prior experience in annuity pricing or product development

  • Prior experience with index annuity products

  • Prior experience with hedging and/or reinsurance

  • High proficiency in at least one actuarial pricing projection software, ideally Risk Agility FM.

For positions based in Woodland Hills, CA, the base salary range is $100,000-$140,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
