Job Description

This position is part of the US Corporate Actuarial team, which is responsible for actuarial activities associated with SCOR's US Life reinsurance business, including the following:
  • Reporting & Analysis of quarterly valuation results under Solvency II and IFRS17.
  • Analysis of actual versus expected business performance.
  • Analysis of key performance indicators of the US business


Responsibilities

  • Support the understanding and analysis of quarterly financial information relating to seriatim and bulk life reinsurance business in accordance with Solvency II and IFRS17.
  • Support SGLA leadership in the analysis of income statements & balance sheet under IFRS17 for US Market.
  • Provide and explain Key Performance Indicators to key stakeholders in the US and across SCOR Group.
  • Develops, maintains and reviews analyses as needed of financial results, with a key focus to improve efficiency, business insights & auditability.
  • Key contributor in the annual capital model runs, which involves analyzing results on multiple sets of sensitivities.
  • Explaining drivers of change in the year-on-year sensitivity results by having a solid understanding of business composition.
  • Partner closely with the SGLA's Financial Controller's cashflow production team during quarter close to enable successful delivery of the results under the two economic bases.
  • Liaise with SGLA's Financial Controller's team to understand the Adjusted Net Asset Value and explain variances between expected amounts and actual amounts under Solvency II & IFRS17.
  • Partner closely within US Corporate Actuarial team, especially the financial development teams to explain reasonableness of results & suggest modeling enhancements from insights.
  • Partner closely with SGLA's FP&A team to support in planning & management reporting.
  • Liaise the quarterly & annual delivery of financial results across various SCOR teams via SCOR's L&H cashflow review & consolidated reporting team.
  • Liaise with SCOR's Life Risk Modeling team to understand and explain the impacts to Risk Adjustment, Risk Margin, Own Funds, and Solvency Capital Requirement for individual SCOR entities as well as SCOR Group as a whole.
  • Complete special assignments and projects for the department, as necessary.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field with demonstrated record of academic excellence.
  • ASA (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years' experience with financial valuation, modeling, cash flow analysis or similar in (re)insurance.
  • Technically astute within the actuarial discipline and industry software applications.
  • Experience with Prophet is a plus (Prophet model building experience is not required; rather the experience running and debugging Prophet models is preferred); user experience of other modeling suite(s), in lieu of Prophet, is also acceptable.
  • Ability to code in SQL.
  • 5+ years' experience with financial reporting and cash flow analysis or similar.
  • Experience planning for and managing projects, as well as effectively representing department at various meetings.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand broader picture and impact of decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal, written and relationship building with ability to present insights to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex models and analysis to deliver required results.
  • Technically astute within the actuarial discipline and industry software applications.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to make strategic decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior team members and interns.
