Overview

Our growing team is looking for an Associate Actuary (ASA) to assist in leading analytics, project management, and review. Along with support on the path to Fellowship, this position is responsible for leading client interactions and offers excellent opportunities for professional development and advancement.

Milliman's healthcare consulting practice, located in Indianapolis, provides consulting services to a broad array of clients in the healthcare industry. This role has a primary focus supporting state Medicaid projects.

Responsibilities

In this role, you can expect to support a wide range of clients and perform the following types of analyses:

  • Medicaid capitation rate setting
  • Medicaid budget and forecasting assistance
  • Risk adjustment
  • Projection and other financial modeling including development of dashboards
  • Experience analysis including outcomes analyses, prevalence/incidence estimates and expenses associated with specified diseases and conditions
  • Actuarial support for government reporting requirements
  • Dental pricing and reserving


Qualifications

  • Advanced analytic and mathematic skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at any given time
  • Ability to apply skills learned on one project to subsequent analyses
  • Computer programming experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Attention to detail

Preferred

  • Knowledge of Medicaid terminology to communicate effectively with clients and to understand their complex reporting requirements


The Team

The Indianapolis Health Practice is strategically structured to serve state Medicaid agencies and other health and human services agencies. We create dedicated core teams for each state Medicaid agency client that are customized to serve each of our clients' unique needs. As a member of a state client team, you will observe how we provide comprehensive consulting services which span from many different disciplines and backgrounds including actuarial, policy, finance, pharmacy, and data management, all working together for a common goal to best serve our clients' needs.

Location

The person hired for this role will work in a dynamic, hybrid environment, with 2 to 3 days per week of on-site work required in our Indianapolis office on a weekly basis.
