The Role at a Glance

The Actuarial Development Program (ADP) at Lincoln Financial Group is an industry-leading program that demonstrates Lincoln Financial' s commitment to creating highly qualified business leaders. As an ADP participant, you'll be able to explore your unique interests while developing the essential actuarial, technical, management, communication, and leadership skills you need to succeed. The Actuarial Development Program includes a series of rotations, typically every 18-24 months. For each rotation, roles are available in different business areas including Life and Annuities, Retirement and Group Protection. Experience gained will enable participants to become well-rounded actuaries with knowledge that may include Product Development, Pricing, Reinsurance, Inforce Management, Valuation, Financial Projections, Risk Management, Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Strategy & Management, Appointed Actuary, Experience Studies, Modeling and Data Analytics & Actuarial Transformation.

ADP participants are expected to pass the Society of Actuaries' exams at a prescribed pace. The program is designed to support you as you work towards your FSA and provide the training and resources necessary to become a well-rounded actuarial leader.

The Role at a Glance

Lincoln Financial Group has an exciting role open for an Associate Actuary, Annuity Valuation where you will join the valuation production team for indexed, fixed, and/or payout annuities as part of the Corporate Valuation team. This is a dynamic role with financial reporting responsibilities where you will interact with key business partners. You will play an integral role in providing annuity reserving and support key business objectives.

  • Perform valuation production process for indexed, fixed, and/or payout annuities
  • Meet all deadlines and provides accurate information consistent with Stat, GAAP, and other professional requirements and standards
  • Provide specialized expertise and thought leadership to internal/external stakeholders for annuity valuation
  • Maintain knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends including regulatory changes for annuity valuation, assesses the impact, and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies
  • Ensure that risks, exposure, and key business issues are identified, properly accounted for and resolved
  • Collaborate with key business/management stakeholders to drive the development and adoption of key financial decisions and risk management techniques for the enterprise
  • Support Finance by providing information and exhibits needed for financial reporting.
  • Introduce innovation, improvements, and efficiencies where possible in the reserving/reporting processes
  • Collaborate with financial leadership to effectively manage the Annuities product lines
  • Participate in review of annuity assumption development work


What we're looking for

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Actuarial Science or Mathematics
  • 5+ years of increasing actuarial experience
  • ASA designation with the commitment to continued progress toward obtraining the FSA designation within the expectation of the Actuarial Development Program
  • Experience with Annuity products
  • Experience with regulatory/accounting/capital frameworks (STAT/GAAP/Tax, RBC, EC)
  • Experience with balance sheets, income statements, and financial projections
  • Confident, comfortable communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated relationship management skills with internal clients; proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches.
  • Demonstrated project management skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with AXIS is a plus
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint

The pay range for this position is $67,000 - $120,700 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln's total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln's standard benefits package.
