Responsibilities

**This role will be filled at the Associate Actuary or Director level based on candidate qualifications**We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated ACAS or FCAS to join our growing team. This position will report to the AVP - Auto/Programs or the Chief Pricing Actuary and will play a key role as we transform GUARD into a top tier commercial insurer. In or agile and fast-paced environment, your work will have a direct impact on results. This position is a vocal leader within the department and in working with business partners as we profitably grow our auto portfolio. This role participates in setting the strategic direction for their area while managing a team of actuarial analysts.The successful candidate will be responsible for completing pricing analysis and leading various projects aimed at monitoring and maintaining profitability. Projects may include application of data science methods in pricing, the development of a dynamic monitoring tool, and programming of more advanced pricing methods. The candidate must be self-motivated, work independently, and have strong analytical and communication skills. The position can be located in New York City, Philadelphia, Parsippany (NJ), Wilkes-Barre (PA), Chicago, Atlanta, or Phoenix.

  • Provide strategic input and collaborate with business partners, such as Claims and Product, to profitability grow our commercial auto portfolio
  • Initiate, organize, and lead the completion of actuarial analyses for all auto products, including delegation to others.
  • Manage multiple assignments independently and simultaneously with a focus on timeliness and accuracy.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained that allows another actuarial staff member to understand and recreate the work product.
  • Prioritize and drive industry research, studies, and analyses to support actuarial projects.
  • Communicate results, including insights and recommendations within the department, to other departments, and to senior leadership.
  • Manage, grow, and develop team members as appropriate and advocate for their continued development.


Qualifications

  • Five or more years of actuarial experience with at least two years of Commercial Auto experience.
  • ACAS or FCAS Required
  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Ability to communicate results and assumptions.
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data and model results.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to multi-task and adjust priorities when necessary.
  • Experience managing or mentoring less experienced team members
  • Knowledge of VBA, SQL, R is preferred.


Salary Range

$110,000.00-$180,000.00 USD

The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices 3 days per week and also be available for travel as required

The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
