Join the GRS Middle Market Actuarial team as an Actuary supporting Energy and Construction business. In this role, you will be an integral partner with the MM Underwriting organization, tasked with influencing UW strategy, identifying actionable insights to improve profitability, and supporting large account pricing for complex product offerings.
You will be required to go into the office twice a month if you reside within 50 miles of one of the following offices: Bala Cynwyd, PA; Boston, MA; Hoffman Estates, IL; Indianapolis, IN; Lake Oswego, OR; Las Vegas, NV; Plano, TX; Suwanee, GA; Syracuse, NY; Tampa, FL; or Weatogue, CT. Responsibilities:
- Act as a trusted partner to Middle Market Underwriting through the support of account-level pricing, implementing portfolio monitoring curated to business needs, and conveying core actuarial concepts in pragmatic terms.
- Provide expertise in large account and complex product pricing for all primary and lead lines of business offered in Middle Market Energy and Construction. Recommend best practice standards in actuarial pricing support for high severity, casualty business.
- Deliver trainings, pricing updates, and portfolio findings to Underwriting audiences ranging from Underwriting leadership to desk level Underwriters.
- Support the implementation of RAMP account tiering initiaves, while ensuring business iniatives are contemplated
- Collaborate with Underwriting, Operations, Pricing, Data Science, Reserving, Finance, Claims, and Analytics groups to gain a thorough understanding of company wide impacts that influence Middle Market Energy and Construction outcomes.
- Support an inclusive, equitable and high performing culture. Coach and mentor junior team members.
- Bachelor's degree required
- Associateship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) designation required, Fellowship (FCAS preferred)
- Minimum 5-7 years relevant experience required.
- Sound knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims, sales, etc.
- Experience collaborating with UW partners to implement strategic goals highly preferred
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and interact effectively with others within and outside the organization.
- Ability to motivate and mentor peers and motivate and train subordinates.
- Advanced computing skills (MS Office Excel, SAS, etc.) required
