Actuary & Manager - Government Markets responsibilities include:
  • Perform analysis of historical claims experience, project anticipated costs and develop rate recommendations in support of all Medicare offerings - with the most focus on Medicare group business and Medicare supplement products. Support business goals through adequate pricing for expected medical, administrative and risk charges.
  • Manage rate filings and other related requests of CMS, the Pennsylvania Insurance Department (PID) and NJ Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI). This includes development of bid packages, documentation, rate filings and support for MA individual, group and Medicare Supplement offerings. Look for opportunities to improve the effectiveness of tools and drive for greater accuracy and automation.
  • Create and maintain group rating models. Support key customer negotiations, pricing methodology, and recommend changes to methodology as business needs develop. Collaborate with Underwriting to implement MA group rates.
  • Partner with Government markets to understand the competitive environment and changing regulatory requirements in order to develop effective strategies.
  • Support ad hoc assessments and projects for corporate wide or market specific initiatives
  • Support the annual planning (AOP) and forecasting process including revenue and margin assumptions


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or Actuarial Science
  • Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries preferred
  • 5+ years of healthcare industry experience preferred
  • 3+ years of Medicare Advantage experience preferre
