Due to our success and increased business opportunities, we are looking for an Actuary within the Integrated Absence Solutions Practice. The position will be primarily focused on delivering quality services and financial acumen to clients and client teams, while also strategizing the build/maintenance of financial and reporting tools that aid in the automation of client work. The ideal candidate will demonstrate some group life and disability benefits experience, a high level of professionalism, the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, the flexibility to easily adapt to changing priorities and desire to engage in new opportunities to learn.
Act as a senior peer reviewer of life insurance, disability, leave of absence and paid time off financial modeling including the following:
Budget projections
Financial/population impact of alternative designs
Paid time off liability, termination payouts and accrual analysis
Collaborate with IAS colleagues to review data for accuracy, as well as develop and track project deadlines
Serve as project owner in strategic development of new financial reporting templates & continually monitor to improve standard models used in analysis
Analyze spreadsheets, graphs, and other illustrative tools for presentations and reports
Review custom reports and analysis for specific client needs
Perform advanced financial and actuarial consulting, experience with broader client leadership a plus
Integrate data from multiple data sources into relevant client reports
Oversee development of new IAS financial/reporting tools and intellectual capital
Become adept at using Lockton benchmarking tools and in sourcing/using external surveys
Support the process in evaluating the competitiveness of life, disability and leave of absence renewal pricing
Communicate in a positive manner to contribute to a cohesive, pleasant work environment
Keep informed of industry developments and products available in the marketplace
Make a positive contribution to customer satisfaction and constantly strive to improve service
Participate in internal office meetings as required
Other assignments as required
A Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Business, or a Finance-related field with an emphasis in math, statistics, or finance required; Master’s degree is a plus
Minimum preferred credentials: ASA and MAAA (FSA, or plans to become an FSA, is a plus)
4-5 years of experience in the insurance industry, specifically in employee group life and disability benefits
Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to develop strong client relationships
Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and ability to learn other programs as required
Alteryx, Microsoft VBA, and SQL experience highly preferred
Strong financial and analytical skills
Organizational and time management skills to prioritize heavy workloads and meet time sensitive deadlines
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to interact with associates, clients and vendors at all levels
Self-motivated, high achiever who has demonstrated leadership skills that will be used in a team-oriented environment
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively
Handles confidential information in the best interest of both client and company
