About the role
This is an actuarial role focused on RILA pricing and profitability in the Retirement Actuarial group. In the Retirement Actuarial group, we are tasked with quantifying the profitability and risks associated with our annuity product offerings. This is a highly visible and collaborative role that serves to create value for our policyholders and family of Symetra Companies with our annuity product offerings. This role will engage various company stakeholders to develop innovative RILA product offerings.
What you will do
- Typically leads a section or function within a product line such as product development, financial reporting, management reporting, experience studies, risk management reporting, and actuarial research.
- Typically responsible for actuarial reports, projects, and analysis.
- Improves processes and creates efficiencies with reporting, documentation, and transparency.
- Usually supervises small actuarial teams of analysts and actuarial students.
- Commitment to self development and advanced industry knowledge.
- May assist with division and actuarial team strategy.
- Approximately 30% of time spent on recurring duties, 40% on project related work, and 30% management related duties including reviewing work and developing employees.

Compensation
Salary Range: $125,000 - $208,400 plus eligibility for annual bonus programs
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with strong quantitative background
- 5 to 7 years of insurance related actuarial experience.
- 7 to 8 actuarial exams. ASA designation required
- RILA product experience required
- Experience in actuarial modeling software is a plus (MG-ALFA preferred)
- Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with others including management of projects
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- High school diploma required
