The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Description
As a member of the Casualty Pricing & Analytics team within GRS North America, you will play a critical role in helping drive the organization to target profitability by evaluating pricing and profitability for the GL line of business. You will be responsible for performing advanced actuarial analyses and will own the Indications and Profit Review for the Middle Markets and Majors segments. This position will be focused on providing high quality analyses and effectively communicating key outcomes to support profit and growth objectives to our business partners, as well as evaluating internal and external trends that impact profitability. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to execute thoroughly in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
If the selected candidate lives within 50 miles of a GRS office, then the expectation is for the selected candidate to come into the office two times/week. This policy is subject to change.
Please note this is a range leveled opening, Sr. Actuarial Analyst Grade 16 or Actuary Grade 18. Grade leveling consideration will be based on related professional and technical experience and expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Perform complex actuarial analyses to assist business decision making and strategy development, including the semi-annual Indications and profitability reviews.
- Assess impact of significant trends impacting profitability, including LC trends, litigation and attorney rep rates, and changes in pricing.
- Develop tools that enhance pricing and influence underwriting strategy.
- Provide clear and concise communication of technical actuarial work to stakeholders.
- Partner across multiple functions including underwriting, finance, claims, systems and reserving.
- If applicable, positive progress towards pursuing and passing of required actuarial exams
- Proven math and analytical skills, as normally acquired through the pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or related field.
- Associateship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) designation required, Fellowship (FCAS preferred)
- Minimum 5-7 years relevant experience required.
- Sound knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims, sales, etc.
- Solid oral and written and presentation communication skills and ability to interact effectively within and outside the organization.
- Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
- Ability to motivate and mentor peers and motivate and train subordinates.
- Ability to exercise discretion, and apply independent judgment and well-developed critical thinking skills in execution of assignments and projects.
- Ability to balance multiple projects with minimal direction.
- Advanced computing skills (MS Office Excel, SAS, etc.); Ability to build models of moderate complexity.
