The Opportunity
As a dedicated Actuarial Support Analyst I, you will support auto pricing work through one or more of the following activities: data manipulation, validation, and analysis, system functionality oversight and integration, audit or interaction, and/or actuarial process and system improvements. Independently performs moderately complex to complex work assignments and problem resolution.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Acquire and apply proficient knowledge of the business, its applications and processes.
- Interpret, reconcile, manipulate, and validate data from various sources using actuarial and accounting data sources.
- Resolve issues and navigates obstacles to deliver work product.
- Perform system testing, validation, and research to ensure data accuracy and credibility.
- Identify opportunities for automation to increase the productivity and accuracy of reports and to ensure data integrity.
- Execute and may lead process improvement initiatives.
- Guide the implementation of solutions.
- May prepare reserve estimates and interface with external auditors.
- May conduct pricing and/or loss valuation reviews and provide analytical and research support to operational and loss reserve areas.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s Degree OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a Degree.
- 4 or more years relevant business and/or general analysis experience
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office tools to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
- Proficient knowledge of relevant data analysis tools
- Proficient knowledge of relevant data extraction tools
- Proficient knowledge of relevant industry data sources
- Proficient knowledge of statistics and mathematics.
- Successful completion of a job-related assessment may be required.
What sets you apart:
- A passion for creative and innovative analytic work
- Experience translating detailed analytics into manageable visualizations to effectively communicate insights and solutions to broad audiences including actuarial and non-actuarial stakeholders
- Experience working on multiple projects, managing competing priorities, and prioritizing workflow
- Expert knowledge and experience with Excel and at least one programming language or modeling software package (Python, SQL, R, SAS, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytic skills
- Familiarity and experience with industry pricing software such as Earnix
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $61,110 - $116,800.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
