Overview:

The Actuarial Sr Manager is responsible for leading the Affinity Solutions actuarial team. This Manager level position will make critical decisions on products and product development, valuation, modeling, and pricing. In leading this team of 6, talent development will be important as well.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Develop and coach talent, setting expectations for results the team will drive, coaching for effectiveness and creating a culture of collaboration, teamwork, creativity, and empowerment.
  • Recommend and support product development strategy and analysis. Develop tactics around our Credit Protection and Direct Response product offerings to assist customers in achieving financial protection goals.
  • Oversee reserving, valuation, and experience studies as it relates to our products targeting overall risk management, earnings, and sales goals.
  • Provide FP&A support for quarterly and year-end financial reporting as well as goals and plans
  • Engage with and provide underwriting support on both new business quoting opportunities and existing accounts. This would also include engaging with and presenting to external distribution partners, key clients, and the sales team.
  • Participate in Affinity Solutions strategic planning discussions.
  • Represent Affinity Solutions internally through active involvement in ATLC and AOG.

Qualifications:

  • Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries.
  • Member of the American Academy of Actuaries10+ years of experience.
  • 3-5 years talent development experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to interact with wide variety of people.

If you’re in a commutable distance (90 minutes) you’ll join us 2-3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships. Our policy allows flexibility for the reality of business and personal schedules. When working in our offices at least two days per week isn’t feasible (vacations, illness, travel, etc.), an eight day per month standard is an option.

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse, and computer for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
  • Ability to utilize phone for 4-6 hours per day
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of travel - approximately once per month. This includes the ability to operate a motor vehicle as well as an ability to utilize air travel.
