Section 1: Position Summary

Timely and accurate completion of actuarial projects for cash balance and traditional defined benefit plans. Position may focus on Silver service model cash balance plans.

Position Summary
  • Analyze and edit employee census data
  • Prepare actuarial valuations on cash balance and traditional defined benefit plans
  • Prepare PBGC annual premium forms
  • Prepare trust reconciliations
  • Prepare Form 5500
  • Process benefit calculations
  • Complete projects timely, accurately and cost effectively
  • Update workflow system daily
  • Perform technical research to answer questions as necessary
  • Complete all applicable checklists and notes
  • Actively participate in ongoing retirement industry related education including pension law
  • Participate in process improvement and innovation
  • Provide back up support to other departments as assigned
  • Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

  • Report to Manager, Actuarial Services

SKILLS NEEDED
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and math skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical ideas
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Excel
  • Detail-oriented and accurate
  • Self-starter taking responsibility for completing tasks in a timely fashion
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize
  • Team player
  • Commitment to ongoing pension education
  • Basic accounting skills
  • Ability to work in fast paced office environment
  • Dependable with excellent follow through on commitments and responsibilities

  • Entry level position; prior experience is not required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be able to sit for long periods (at least 8 hours per day).
  • Must be able to work on a computer at least 8 hours per day (includes looking at a monitor, and typing using a keyboard and mouse).


EDUCATION/TRAINING NEEDED
  • B.A. or B.S. degree preferred
  • ASPPA or SOA exams leading to designations are preferred
