This position is part of the Modeling Center of Excellence (COE) in Enterprise Actuarial Services, a service-oriented function focusing on actuarial modeling needs across Securian. You will be part of cultivating a service mindset, seeking to meet the needs of our internal customers with models that are effective, efficient, and are well governed. You will develop a deep understanding of actuarial modeling, across a variety of purposes.

This position is part of the Actuarial exam-taking path. At Securian Financial the internal title for this position is Actuarial Sr. Analyst or Actuarial Consultant. The title and salary will be determined based on experience and exam progress.

- Seek to understand our partners products, markets, responsibilities, and objectives.
- Build targeted modeling expertise (e.g. Prophet) to support the development and maintenance of effective, efficient, and well governed models across various products and purposes.
- Leverage that modeling expertise and partner understanding to identify and enable opportunities for improved results, insights, and capabilities.
- Contribute to a supportive team environment that emphasizes curiosity, collaboration, and experimentation.
- Apply model coding and development standards to models while adhering to Securian's Actuarial Model Governance Policy and relevant Actuarial Standards of Practice.
- Progress towards the completion of your actuarial credentials.

- Self-motivated and flexible; ability to work and learn independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with a willingness to experiment to get to the best solution.

- Advanced technical aptitude with the ability to learn/use a variety of software/modeling tools, and the ability to learn complex subject matter.
- Documentation and organizational skills with attention to details.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with actuarial modeling (Prophet preferred, but MG-ALFA or MoSes also valued)
- Experience with Life or Annuity products
- Understanding of PBR, LDTI and/or financial reporting
Physical job requirements:
- Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
- Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day
- Ability to utilize telephone for approximately 1-4 hours per day
- Ability to perform simple grasping including handwriting, paper manipulation, sorting, folding, etc. periodically throughout entire workday
