What this position entails
As a Winter Intern with IntelliScript, you're assigned to projects that directly impact our business, such as data analysis, reporting, systems performance, clinical insights, and opportunities for innovation. Actuarial Interns primarily perform data analysis using Excel, VBA, PowerBI, and SQL to support our products. In collaboration with employees across the company, you'll develop deeper technical and personal skills in a professional services environment. The Milliman IntelliScript suite of software products provides intelligent analysis of prescription histories and other medical data. Offering tremendous ROI, our proprietary Curv® system provides our clients with intelligent analysis of data. The Actuarial Intern will have an important role in supporting day-today activities, collaborating with internal teams and producing client studies and deliverables.
What you'll be doing
- Creative problem-solving using spreadsheets, databases, and other resources to organize and analyze information
- Automation and efficiency improvement of tools through PowerBI, Databricks, or other approaches
- Effectively communicate results through well-written reports and presentations in a clear and concise manner
- Anticipate and address questions that will arise during business review and client delivery
- Use discretion and independent judgment to determine how to complete assigned projects, subject to peer review
- Work with internal and external clients to create client deliverables, including studies, pilots, projects, and research on a variety of different products and models
- Balance numerous projects/tasks with varying deadlines and difficulty without sacrificing quality of work
- Check and validate peers' work and results
What we need
Required:
- Two completed actuarial internships
- At least three actuarial exams passed
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or a related field with quantitative coursework
- General proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Available to work part-time hours January through May of 2025
Preferred:
- Experience with SQL queries and/or data modeling tools such as VBA or R
- Experience with data visualization

Compensation: The range is $19 - $36 per hour, depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc.
Location: This position will be based out of the Milliman office in Brookfield, WI; however, this position is open to remote work. Applicants must be willing to travel to the Milliman office in Brookfield, WI occasionally.
