Actuarial Development Program

Equitable's Actuarial Development Program (ADP) - Level I focuses on fostering the growth and development of aspiring actuaries. We are committed to expanding the actuarial community by providing new and engaging learning opportunities to a diverse group of actuarial students. The ADP allows study time and other exam support to enable students in passing their actuarial exams. Our 18-month rotation program includes roles such as Model Modernization & Development (Life & Annuity), Reinsurance & M&A, Risk Management, Valuation & Reporting, Growth Solutions/IR/GR/Life Pricing, Model Governance, Internal Audit, and more!

Key Responsibilities may include:

Deeper understanding and focused development /modernization of a variety of actuarial models, engaging in the pricing of new financial products, compiling, reporting and automating actuarial balances, evaluating actuarial risks and hedge strategies, evaluating experience data and recommending assumption updates, explaining the evolution of actuarial balances and how they impact company financial performance, and more. Employees in the ADP will communicate results to managers and others across the organization while they learn top actuarial techniques and practices.

The base salary for this position is $68,000 with an increase for each exam SOA exam passed. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Mathematical, Statistical, Economics and/or Actuarial Sciences
  • Minimum of 1 SOA exams passed

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of actuarial experience
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
  • Statistics and Actuarial Modeling: Knowledge of statistical and actuarial modeling tools and techniques; ability to apply modeling processes and techniques to facilitate risk management decisions.
