Job Summary:
The Actuarial Data Analyst is a seasoned analyst within the Actuarial department that is responsible for leading the development, support, and maintenance of the Actuarial Data Base in order to accurately provide P&L data at the member level. This position is also responsible for Product Governance and working with key stakeholders to ensure product information is captured correctly for the Enterprise. This role involves consistent collaboration and communication with IT and will provide updates to Actuarial Department and leadership on the status/progress of key issues.Lead the design of new data models and improving existing data processes to expand the scope of the data program in support of the Actuarial department and Segment Management Process.
In collaboration with the Actuarial Modeling team, test new requirements, fields, and assist in validating data for new models.
Work cross functionally to ensure that data processes are aligned with industry best practices and stakeholder needs.
Troubleshoot issues and bugs independently. Plan for future data updates, indicators etc. and share/gain feedback from the rest of the department.
Automate current Actuarial processes, including but not limited to Reserves, Trend, Forecasting, and Pricing.
Advise and collaborate with IT on data issues and coming up with solutions. Communicate with and provide updates to department leadership on the status or progress of these issues. Lead the development of new sources/establishing automated feeds to reduce need for multiple teams to extract data from common sources.
Regularly monitor issues and making sure solutions continue to work and are well documented. Understand and be able to communicate the standing of any issues and impacts to work on various departments.
Ensure a state of audit readiness and effectively communicate internally and externally database issues and how that can impact business processes.
Collaborate with Actuaries to build and improve on the availability, integrity, accuracy, and reliability of data logging and data pipelines
Act as the department representative on monthly Product Governance calls working with Data Governance, Analytics, IT, Product Development.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Actuarial, Economics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields.
- Relevant work experience in lieu of degree accepted.
- Requires a minimum of six (6) years of experience with programming or analytics, preferably in health care, insurance or related field; Prefers 6+ years’ data reporting experience.
- Requires experience with R, Tableau, PowerBI, or other programming languages
Additional Licensing, Certifications, Registrations
- Certified Actuarial Analyst a plus
- SAS or SQL certification a plus
Knowledge
- Requires knowledge of data analysis, Actuarial principles, and understanding interdependencies among data.
- Requires proficiency with very large data sets and software/coding (i.e. SAS, SQL).
- Requires proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Prefers in-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry.
- R, Tableau, PowerBI, or other programming languages.

Salary Range:
$93,000 - $127,050This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case.
