Milliman is seeking an Actuarial Consultant (FSA) to join our growing health practice, located in Indianapolis, to guide project and client management. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of expertise in project scope development, project and staff management, and can effectively lead client interactions. - Medicaid capitation rate setting
- Medicaid budget and forecasting assistance
- Risk adjustment
- Value-based and alternative payment support
- Projection and other financial modeling
- Experience analysis including outcomes analyses, prevalence/incidence estimates and expenses associated with specified diseases and conditions
- Actuarial support for government reporting requirements
- Pricing and reserving
- Assistance with contract bidding and negotiations
- Population projections for product development
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Serve as lead and/or supporting actuary on large and complex capitation rate setting analyses and related projects
- Manage long term, complex projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Provide actuarial leadership in conducting analyses that estimate the financial outcomes of program and benefit changes
- Development and peer review of capitation rate setting assumptions
- Clearly communicate results and their related financial impact in a concise manner to senior actuaries and external stakeholders
- Provide direction and coaching to actuarial analysts
- Maintain a high-level of quality and accuracy in all client communication and deliverables
- Participation in business development opportunities
Qualifications
- Healthcare industry leadership, Medicaid experience, or combination of both
- Management experience leading staff and analysts through information gathering, validation, and analysis
- Experience and desire to lead client projects and prepare client communications
- Solid analytic and mathematic skills
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills

The Team
The Indianapolis Health Practice is strategically structured to serve state Medicaid agencies and other health and human services agencies. We create dedicated core teams for each state Medicaid agency client that are customized to serve each of our clients' unique needs. As a member of a state client team, you will observe how we provide comprehensive consulting services which span from many different disciplines and backgrounds including actuarial, policy, finance, pharmacy, and data management, all working together for a common goal to best serve our clients' needs.
Location
The person hired for this role will work in a dynamic, hybrid environment, with 2 to 3 days per week of on-site work required in our Indianapolis office on a weekly basis.
