The Actuarial Consultant in this role will work with detailed health care claims data to build and maintain actuarial models to support financial analysis within the Medicare, Medicaid and/or Commercial lines of business; Research and identify historical trend drivers to assess future risk; Help to identify root causes and proposing solutions on how to solve issues; Apply technical skills to complex analyses to draw key insights that reflect an understanding of the overall consulting engagement; Effectively create visually appealing, client-ready, and accurate deliverables; Successfully construct logical storylines and manage client questions in areas of content knowledge.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Extract, analyze, aggregate, review, and interpret data
- Participate in client communications and build sustainable client relationships
- Prepare information for clients by building reports and delivering summary of results
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with broader team, while supporting ad-hoc analytics where needed
- Serve as a resource to others and develop strategic client relationships
- Take accountability for work within a fast paced, exciting environment

Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of actuarial, analytical OR data science experience
- 2+ years of experience working in a corporate environment collecting, analyzing, and summarizing qualitative/quantitative data
- 1+ year of experience of advanced proficiency using R, SAS, SQL, Python, Tableau, PowerBI, and/or VBA
- 1+ year of experience working with formulas, calculations, charts, graphs in MS Excel
- Proven ability to communicate complex information
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries)
- Proven intellectual curiosity and drive to serve clients
- Experience and/or exposure in dealing with health care claims experience and/or Pharmacy claims experience (i.e. understanding of costs, expected claims, diagnosis codes, procedure codes, pharmacy terminology)
- Experience and/or exposure to predictive modeling, clustering, etc.
- Experience working in a consultancy, actuarial or healthcare field
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, including written and verbal forms of communication
- Proven analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to handle changing priorities/requirements/deadlines

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
