This Actuarial Consultant will be a member of the team supporting the Individual and Family Plans (IFP) product line. They will work with other actuaries on the team to develop product strategy and pricing for the ACA on-exchange individual products. The Actuarial Consultant is a trusted advisor for actuarial and health plan leadership in ensuring that program rates are competitive, adequate, and actuarially sound. This individual will lead analytical efforts to support the rate setting process including competitive analysis, network analysis, risk adjustment, trend, actuarial benefit value analysis, etc. This individual will determine the implications of these items on strategy, premiums, and various product proposals. Their responsibilities will include developing student actuaries.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining actuarial models
  • Preparing experience analyses
  • Preparing regulatory filings
  • Assisting in the development of financial forecasts and projections
  • Collaborating and communicating results and technical concepts to various stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Economics, or related field
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) or near-ASA
  • 4+ years of actuarial experience
  • Prior actuarial experience in health care
  • Advanced or higher level of proficiency with MS Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with SAS and/or SQL
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior actuarial experience in developing program rates and pricing methodologies

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
