As an Actuarial Consultant on the Medicare & Retirement Finance actuarial team, you will be empowered, supported, and encouraged to continue your professional development as you solve some of UnitedHealth Group's toughest challenges. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Development of new risk adjustment tools / analyses to expand UHC's ability to predict risk scores and revenue using emerging data
  • Expand RAF program analytics to enhance valuations and potentially refine the operations of existing programs and/or introduction of new programs
  • Consolidation of Medicare Advantage risk adjustment data received from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
  • Support prospective risk adjustment program by supplying key data which helps drive the member and provider encounter
  • Develop and maintain risk adjustment valuation audits
  • Assist with Ad-hoc projects

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4 or more Actuarial exams passed
  • 4+ years of experience in the health care industry; in an actuarial, consulting, finance, or other analytical role
  • Experience working with Medicare Risk Adjustment model
  • Beginner or higher level of proficiency in SAS (Statistical Analysis System) or SQL (Structure Query Language)
  • Advanced or higher level of proficiency in MS Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries)
  • Experience working with large datasets
  • Experience with model building using Excel, SAS, SQL or other programming language

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
