The Actuarial Associate, Life Valuation and Consolidation will be a member of the FRL Valuation team, which serves the company by developing reserves and financial reporting for the life, A&H, and fixed annuity blocks of business. This role will report to the AVP, Life and Annuity Consolidation lead. The Actuarial Associate is responsible consolidation of financial reporting, analysis, maintaining and developing automation of data processes, process improvement, and ad hoc projects on life insurance business assumed by Fortitude Re. Along with other Actuarial departments, this role will work closely with Data Management, Finance and Accounting departments, along with our external auditor. The ideal candidate will have life insurance experience, experience with data and experience coding with various tools to assist in creating new processes and automating calculations.

The ideal candidate will have exposure to valuation processes has experience working with data and coding. The candidate must have excellent communication, analytical, and technical skills and the ability to interact with a team effectively. The candidate must have an entrepreneurial attitude and be able to create processes and analyses from scratch.

The preference for this role is to be located in the Fortitude Re Nashville, TN office on a hybrid schedule with minimal travel expected (0% to 10%).

What You Will Do:
  • Assist with the financial reporting deliverables including US GAAP, Statutory, and Tax valuation.
  • Assist and execute in the building/maintenance of our financial reporting consolidation processes, which entails coding, testing and input updates.
  • Maintain and develop testing tools to validate automated processes.
  • Ensure that all valuation activities follow Fortitude Re's Control Framework.
  • Assist with onboarding new deals written by Fortitude Re.
  • Periodically tech review work by others in Valuation.
  • Assist in process improvement efforts, particularly automation.
  • Assist in responding to internal and external auditor requests.
  • Execute on ad hoc projects.
  • Sustain status in FRL's actuarial development program, with emphasis on obtaining credentials.

What You Will Have:
  • An undergraduate degree is required with preference for mathematic, actuarial sciences, and other quantitative fields.
  • 1.5 years of experience.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Mathematical and actuarial knowledge.
  • Attention to detail and focus on work quality.
  • Problem solving and a basic business sense of financial, accounting and economics aspects of business.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and SQL.
