This early career position is perfect for an aspiring actuary who has a proclivity towards data, programming, and collaboration. Also, this teammate's work output directly affects product lines and regions around the world, so your impact will be global!

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement and maintain quantitative diagnostic tools to be used by underwriters in pricing individual risks and managing a portfolio of business.
  • Assist in programming pricing algorithms using R or Python.
  • Assist in developing new portfolio pricing models through statistical analysis, including general linear models (GLMs) and machine learning techniques.
  • Help optimize existing processes and data structures by designing and writing new code.
  • Provide technical/programming support, as needed, to other actuaries as well as BHSI teammates in other functions.
  • Collaborate with offshore resources to improve business processes and increase efficiency.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • A commitment to pursuing the FCAS designation.
  • Successful completion of at least two actuarial exams is preferred.
  • Proven math and analytical skills as normally acquired through the pursuit of a bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, actuarial science, or related field.
  • Proficiency in SQL, VBA, R or Python is preferred although not required if the candidate has proficiency in other languages or an aptitude for programming.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.

• A dynamic, action oriented, and thoughtful environment centered on always doing the right thing for our customers, teammates and our other stakeholders
