How you'll contribute:
This position supports financial planning and analysis and is responsible for providing forward-looking actuarial liability projections that form the basis of the corporate Financial Plan for Brighthouse Financial. The Financial Plan guides our financial strategy, establishes compensation targets, and provides critical insights for the CFO and Finance Leadership Team. This position will be responsible for statutory projections for fixed annuities ("FA") and fixed index annuities ("FIA"), as well as the consolidation of projections across all product lines, working with other departments, such as valuation, pricing, ALM, and controllers to ensure appropriate consistency in assumptions and methodology.

In this role, you'll get to:
  • Perform detailed semi-annual projections for Cash Flows, Stat, RBC, and Tax, for FA and FIA across all operating companies and reinsurance captives
  • Work closely with other teams (valuation, expenses, pricing, ALM) to incorporate their inputs into the projections
  • Consolidate projections across all product lines from other teams in Financial Projections as well as from other business partners, including ALM, Expense, and Treasury
  • Provide financial projections to key business partners, including Tax, Treasury, ALM, and Risk
  • Analyze and explain actual-to-plan and current-to-prior plan variances and implement adjustments as needed
  • Identify shortcomings in modeled results, recommend adjustments, and work with Actuarial Modeling to implement modeling enhancements
  • Identify ways to optimize projections processes to ensure consistency and to facilitate insightful analysis
  • Create and maintain strong documentation on modeling processes and potential improvements


We're looking for people who have:
  • A bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or related major
  • One or more SOA exams passed
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, in particular Excel
  • Able to balance multiple projects and adjust well to shifting business priorities
  • Positive attitude with an eagerness to learn

What you'll receive:
  • Compensation - Candidates for this role can be hired at the Actuarial Assistant or Actuarial Associate level. Level and salary to be commensurate with exam progress.
    • Assistant Level (0-3 Exams): Base salary ranging from $70,000 to $80,000 plus competitive performance-based incentives determined by company and individual results.
    • Associate Level (4+ Exams): Base salary ranging from $80,000 to $93,000 plus competitive performance-based incentives determined by company and individual results.
