Section 1: Position Summary

Timely and accurate completion of actuarial valuations and government filings for Cash Balance and traditional Defined Benefit Plans. Proficient in all facets of pension administration including distribution calculations, government forms, plan termination filings, compliance testing, AFTAPs, Annual Funding Notice, assist credentialed actuary and actuarial analyst in preparation of all client deliverables.

Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare actuarial valuations on cash balance and traditional defined benefit plans
  • Prepare ASC 960 disclosures
  • Prepare Form 5500, Sch SB and PBGC Premium Payments
  • Reconcile Market to Market Trusts
  • Prepare participant benefit statements on traditional Defined Benefit plans
  • Assist with IRS and PBGC plan terminations
  • Perform ASC 715 valuations and assist with disclosures
  • Perform contribution projections for future years
  • Perform cash balance and defined benefit plan studies
  • Perform special benefit calculations (e.g., 110% calculation, required minimum distribution) for cash balance plans and traditional DB plans
  • Use and critique existing processes for day-to-day work
  • Keep files organized and up-to-date
  • Update Workflow timely
  • Provide back up to other teams as necessary
  • Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

Section 3: Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in actuarial science, math or math related field
  • Actuarial exam track or 7 years of industry experience
  • Commitment to ongoing pension education
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel applications
  • Demonstrated expertise with industry recognized pension valuation software
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in connection with business operations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical ideas
  • Detail-oriented
  • Self-starter who will take responsibility for completing tasks in a timely fashion
  • Team player
