Actuarial Analyst II

Job Description:

Location: This position could primarily be remote, proximity to an Elevance Health major office (PulsePoint) is preferred but not required. Elevance Health supports a hybrid workplace model with pulse point sites used for collaboration, community, and connection.

The Actuarial Analyst II is responsible for completing projects and performing complex actuarial studies.

How You Will Make an Impact:

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Completes projects and performs complex actuarial studies with a focus on pharmacy utilization and cost trend studies.
• Provide actuarial support for Pharmacy Benefit Management Company, CarelonRx, drug formulary optimization team through modeling financial impacts of changing drug coverage for all lines of business.
• The successful candidate will gain in-depth understanding of PBM operations including formulary management, clinical operations, and drug pricing for all lines of business.
• Work directly with cross functional teams including clinicians and pharmacist to developing drug growth strategy and cost of care savings opportunities.
• Perform and develop supporting analytics on emerging drug trends, inflation reporting, and developing studies on drug market shifting assumptions.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a BA/BS degree and to have passed a minimum of three Society of Actuaries (SOA) or Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) actuarial exams and a minimum of 1-year related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

• Familiarity with SAS and using Excel VBA.
• Experience with SQL or other query language.
• Previous experience in pharmacy and drug formulary cost of care analytics strongly desired.
• Advanced Excel skills including but not limited to complex data manipulation and analytic functions.
• Ability to effectively communicate (both oral and written) to non-actuarial professionals.

For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $62,640 to $125,280.
