Job Summary:
This is a junior level analyst position within the Actuarial department. This role will be primarily responsible for expanding and maintaining the Executive Intelligence System (EIS) across all lines of business. The individual will work with key stakeholders across the enterprise to understand and consider varying MLR characteristics by market, products, and member.
- Perform or support trend analysis.
- May perform or support forecasting.
- Collect and analyze data to use for financial and utilization reporting and monitoring (including IBNR)
- Support key Actuarial functions by providing innovative insights through the EIS.
- Perform actuarial analysis specifically related to the MLR of each line of business.
- Continuously monitor and assess the capabilities of the EIS to help support future enterprise goals.
- Communicate and present the EIS to varying stakeholders within the organization to help support their goals.
- Develop and implement new ways to view our MLR information that lead to actionable changes within our business.
Education/Experience:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree, preferably within Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Sciences or a related field from an accredited college or university; Master's degree a plus.
- Requires 0 to 1 year of actuarial and/or statistics experience.
- Minimum one Actuarial exam
Additional licensing, certifications, registrations:
- ASA candidate a plus
Knowledge/Skills:
- Requires working knowledge of Excel, familiarity with Access
- Requires experience with SAS, SQL or other programming language
- Basic knowledge of data analysis and Actuarial principles a plus
- Familiarity with medical claims and/or medical terminology a plus
- Requires good oral and written communication skills
- Requires strong analytical thinking, attention to details, and ability to learn quickly
- Requires strong mathematical skill and statistical analysis abilities
- Requires good judgment and problem solving skills
Salary Range:
$68,500 - $91,665
This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case.
