General Description
This individual will be involved in actuarial projects for the following entities: Delta Dental of Missouri (including South Carolina) and Delta Vision. Projects will include claim reserving, pricing, underwriting, forecasting, analysis of provider reimbursement, and more.
Responsibilities
Some of the responsibilities will include:
• Assist with update and maintenance of actuarial data warehouse.
• Maintain and update dental and vision claim reserve models for commercial business (employer group and individual) and any on-exchange/health plan business (ACA/Medicare/Medicaid).
• Maintain and update dental and vision renewal model including renewal philosophy and pricing targets.
• Maintain and update manual dental and vision rating model and conduct actuarial studies to update rating factors.
• Develop and update standard reports analyzing utilization, discounts, claims costs, revenue, and margins.
• Assist with group specific underwriting for new business and renewals.
• Develop/update/maintain/create other models used to support the organization.
• Assist with analytics supporting the Finance, Provider Relations, and Marketing departments.
• Complete ad-hoc analytical analyses.
Education, Skills, Personal Attributes, and Experience Required
• Bachelor's degree from accredited college required; math or business degree preferred.
• At least two completed Society of Actuaries examinations required.
• Two or more years of actuarial work experience in a health-related area preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required; intermediate knowledge of SQL, R/RStudio, and Microsoft Access is preferred.
• Ability to perform detailed calculations and independently solve complex problems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.

Environment
This position currently functions as a hybrid role working from both home and in-office environments. Any home office setting must be conducive to all guidelines outlined by the organization. This role is required to regularly attend in-person meetings, the frequency of which is determined by management based on departmental or organizational needs.
