This role is scheduled to be 100% remote. While remote, finalists MUST reside in one of the following states to be eligible for employment with Kaiser Permanente: CA, OR, WA, HI, CO, GA, MD, VA, CT, DC, or IL.

Department Description:

MOC Health Plan Analytics team under Actuarial Services provides data driven insights to our finance and operations leaders in MOC regions. Our flagship product, the Analytic Tools and Insights Package (ATIP) is a package of analytical tools geared towards delivering actionable insights about our financials. ATIP adds logic to bring more analytical value to the data, including avoidable ED visits, moveable surgeries to lower cost settings etc.

Internship Project(s):

This intern will be helping deploy open-source tools, developing interfaces into these tools and will do technical work related to data processing for use cases such as repricing.

Target Majors:

Computer Science; Data Science; Math/Statistics

Target Skills:

Knowledge in developing and deploying web services

OpenAPI specifications
Conceptual understanding of relational databases and SQL
Knowledge in data processing and tools such as SAS

  • Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3.0 GPA or above.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.
