The Actuarial Analyst assists in developing actuarial analyses in accordance with CAS (Casualty Actuarial Society) principles. These analyses will contribute to the overall performance of the actuarial area. The Actuarial Analyst will learn how to make changes necessary to keep the analyses up-to-date and free of errors.
Responsibilities
- Supports pricing analyses for selected property and casualty insurance products offered by MAPFRE Insurance.
- Updating analyses relative to the pricing of new or revised coverages, and relative to potential structural changes in product pricing (class plans, amount of insurance relativity curves, etc.
- Learning indication methodologies
- Updating existing, repetitive work efforts and projects
- Understanding and using appropriate insurance and actuarial terminology in the context of analysis and explanations
- Pulling data and spotting obvious errors and anomalies
- Works towards becoming an expert on specific state/LOB
- Learns from errors and keeps manager up to date with progress reports
- Actively listens during trainings and asks "why" questions on a regular basis when learning new skills.
- Performs other actuarial analyses on an ad-hoc basis, by reaching out to collaborate with peers during downtime.
- Retrieves and manipulates basic data
- Pursues exams on the CAS syllabus
- Adheres to company policies and procedures as outlined in the Human Resources Policy Guide and follows departmental and functional area standards, rules, guidelines, processes, and policies as identified by management.
- The advanced knowledge is in a field of science or learning customarily acquired by a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction.
Experience and Qualifications
0-1 years of experience or equivalent related knowledge
1-2 CAS exams passed
Quantitative analysis, preferably related to financial math or insurance
6 months of experience supporting at least 1 of the following areas of the business: Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, Product/Underwriting, Market Pricing, Claims
Education
Bachelor's Degree or professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, or equivalent related experience
