AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies offers paid summer internships to students enrolled in full-time undergraduate or graduate degree programs.
As an AmeriHealth Caritas intern, you will learn about the health care industry, our Medicaid and Medicare plans, pharmacy benefits management and behavioral health care - and how we are working to improve access to health care for all Americans. You will also join us in building healthy communities through active service projects that support our mission.
Required Eligibility Guidelines: Candidates must meet either of the following eligibility required guidelines to be considered for the AmeriHealth Caritas Internship program.
Option 1:
- Candidates must be rising Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors by June 2, 2025, actively enrolled in a full-time undergraduate 2-year or 4-year college degree program, and majoring in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other applicable majors.
- Candidates must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 GPA scale.
Option 2:
- Candidates must be enrolled in a postgraduate program or professional school (e.g., a Master's program or a law program) by June 2, 2025.
- Candidates must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 GPA scale.
Responsibilities:
The Actuarial Services team meets business objectives by providing best-in-class actuarial services by: delivering superior actuarial precision, sound judgement, and clear communication; acquiring, retaining, and developing top talent; and creating a culture of continuous operational improvement.
The intern will help provide development and analysis of trends and forecasting as well as validation of medical cost containment initiatives that will be directly impactful to the organization.
- Learns to calculate, monitor, and assess impact of benefit and provider reimbursement changes, cost containment programs, and medical cost and trends.
- Assists in developing and maintaining spreadsheets and databases for purposes of trend and data analytics.
- Performs monthly data analysis projects to assist analysts.
- Engages in developing forecasting models for reforecasts and expected budgets.
- Performs monthly data analysis projects to assist analysts.
- Performs monthly review of outstanding claim liabilities to assist in determining appropriate medical expenses and book reserves.
- Populates quarterly reporting templates for LOBs.
- Prepares internal and external communications, including that with regulatory authorities and internal management.
- Uses best practice models and other industry recognized pricing tools.
Education & Experience:
- Enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a major in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other applicable majors.
- No experience is required. and 0-3 actuarial exams.
- Basic knowledge of Excel, SAS/SQL, and database applications used for analysis is a plus.
- Ability to work on a team/communicate effectively.
NOTE: AmeriHealth Caritas utilizes a hybrid work environment with associates working from home two days a week, and in the office three days a week. The functions of this position will be performed onsite at our offices located at 3875 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, 19073.
